Josef Carl von Klinkosch (1822-88), seit 1855 K.u.K. Hof- und Kammerlieferant, wurde 1869 Alleininhaber der bis dato als Mayerhofer & Klinkosch firmierenden Silberschmiede und benannte sie in "J. C. Klinkosch" um.
Erzherzogin Marie Valerie (1868 - 1924), Lieblingstochter der Kaiserin, lernt 1886 auf einem Ball Erzherzog Franz Salvator von Österreich-Toskana kennen, den sie 1890 in Ischl heiratet.
Silver frame with engraved décor of blossoms and rocailles. Curved shape, the lower end slightly flared and with master’s mark of Joseph Carl von Klinkosch as well as Viennese mark of fineness for 800 silver (from 1867 onwards) with the double-headed eagle for court purveyors. The upper end with engraved and crowned monogram "MV". The reverse lined with beech wood (four of the in total twelve hand-crafted silver fastening nuts missing), the adjustable supporting stand likewise made of beech wood, the silver fittings on the stand also punched with "JCK" and with a hallmark with head of Diana. The clouded mirror glass replaced. Height approx. 47 cm, width 43 cm.
Josef Carl von Klinkosch (1822-88), purveyor to the imperial and royal court and chambers since 1855, became sole proprietor of the silversmith workshop hitherto known as Mayerhofer & Klinkosch in 1869 and renamed it "J. C. Klinkosch".
Archduchess Marie Valerie (1868 - 1924), the Empress’s favourite daughter, made the acquaintance of Archduke Franz Salvator of Austria-Toscana at a ball in 1886 and was married to him in Ischl in 1890.
