Tall and untrimmed copy of the first Italian edition of Euclid—the first translation of the Elements into any modern language. "The two translations used by Tartalea are those of Campanus and Zamberti" (Thomas-Stanford). Adams E-992; Thomas-Stanford 34.
Folio (300 x 214mm). Woodcut device on title, colophon, and final page; printed mathematical diagrams throughout (occasional spots and stains, pale dampstain at end). Contemporary Italian cartonnage (some early repairs, a little worming to inside boards). Provenance: manuscript annotations in some margins and rear flyleaf – two early crossed-out inscriptions on title, one possibly "Alphonse de Fosinis" – armorial bookplate.
