An extremely rare Russian parade uniform of a high government official, 1st class, probably of the Imperial Hunting Administration, between 1870 and 1900
Black cloth, red collar and cuffs. Extremely opulent, fine embroidery in silver, partially gilt, from both sides. Gilt buttons with the double-headed eagle on one side. Gilt caterpillar-shaped shoulder boards. Lined in cream-coloured silk. Comes with a parade bicorne in black mohair felt, trimmed with feathers, a border of black and gold braid and a gold riband buckle. Russian cockade, gilt button with double-headed eagle, leather sweatband and cream-coloured silk lining with gold-coloured manufacturer's mark of the purveyor to the court "C. Schiffler, St. Petersburg" below the Russian double-headed eagle and the owner's monogram "P.V" in Cyrillic. Slight signs of age and wear. May have been shortened slightly. Complete with a pair of long, black-lacquered leather boots with buckled spurs (loose). Also includes a pair of white linen trousers with spots of mould.
Very high quality, exquisite work. Extremely rare, magnificent uniform that would grace a museum collection.
