Leicht gewölbter, eiserner Schild mit abgesetzter, breiter Randzone. Mittig verschraubter, kräftiger Dorn mit achtfacher Kehlung. Das Feld fein strahlenförmig gerippt, umlaufend geätzter Zierfries aus Blattranken. Randzone mit fein geätztem Bandwerdekor. Umlaufend blütenförmige Futternieten (zwei fehlen), kräftig gebördelter und geschnürlter Brechrand. Durchmesser 56,5 cm.

A fine iron round shield (rondache) with etched decoration, Nuremberg, circa 1570
Slightly domed iron shield with distinct, wide border. Screwed to the centre a robust spike of eight flutes. The field with fine ribs radiating from the centre, surrounded by an etched frieze of scrolling leaves. The border with finely etched bands. Surrounded by blossom-shaped lining rivets (two missing), robustly turned and roped flange. Diameter 56.6 cm.
