A FINE ICON SHOWING STS. ZOSIMA AND SAVATIY Russian, Workshop of the Solovetskii Monastery, last quarter 19th century Oil on wood panel with velvet backing. The border made of gold and decorated with scrolling foliage. Finely painted in detail, the saints shown full length in attitude of supplication, Solovetskii Monastery in the background, with the Mother of God and Christ in clouds above. Vertical crack minimally restored. 31.5 x 25.4 cm.
