A FINE SILVER-MOUNTED TRIPTYCH SHOWING THE DESCENT INTO HELL AND THE BAPTISM OF CHRIST Russian, 1679-1682 Boxwood carved in relief, the silver mount engraved with scrolling foliage. On the upper rim engraved dedication inscription in Cyrillic: 'Before this image prays General of the Duma Aggey Alekseevich Shepelev'. 7.7 x 21.5 cm (extended). Aggey Alekseevich Shepelev (died 1688) was the first General of the Duma and a prominent military commander in the 17th century. He received the rank of General in 1679 and was later promoted to Duma General. Shepelev distinguished himself in the fight against the Turks during the second Chigirin campaign of the Russian army. He also accompanied Patriarch Nikon into exile and played a crucial role in defending the Russian tsars during the Streltsy Uprising in 1682. A loyal supporter of the ruling family, Shepelev participated in several military campaigns, including the Crimean campaign.

Auf dem oberen Rand feine Gravurinschrift in Kyrillisch: 'Vor diesem Bild betet General-Dumnoy (Duma) Aggey Alekseevich Shepelev'. Aggey Alekseevich Shepelev (gestorben 1688) war der erste General der Duma und ein bedeutender Militärkommandeur im 17. Jahrhundert. Er erhielt 1679 den Rang eines Generals und wurde später zum Duma-General befördert. Shepelev zeichnete sich im Kampf gegen die Türken während des zweiten Chigirin-Feldzugs der russischen Armee aus. Er begleitete auch Patriarch Nikon ins Exil und spielte eine wichtige Rolle bei der Verteidigung der russischen Zaren während der Streltsy-Revolte von 1682. Am 8. Juni 1682 wurde Shepelev der Rang eines Dumaadligen verliehen. Als treuer Anhänger der Herrscherfamilie nahm Shepelev an mehreren militärischen Feldzügen teil, darunter an der Krim-Kampagne.
