Dr. Franz Goerger, Neuss
since then in family possession

Dr. Franz Goerger was a founding member of the "society for the promotion of German art in the 20th century. Century e. V." in Neuss. He has made numerous purchases of expressionists from the turn of the year exhibitions.

Only 26 years of age Conrad Felix müller is old, as he paints the watercolor painting "summer evening". At this time he is already a respected artist. After the first lessons at the art school and the private school of Ferdinand Dorsch he attended from 1913 to 1915, the Royal Academy of art in Dresden. In the final year, he is working as a freelance artist. It shall, among other things, for the first time in the Berlin gallery Hewarth Walden's, for the "storm"-the newspaper he writes for a short time. He also starts for other magazines such as "The action" and to work in 1917, "the people". The latter can be seen from the "Expressionist soirées", poetry readings and discussion evenings, which take place in his Studio. In 1919 he founded, together with Dix, Segal, Schubert and Heckrott the "the Dresden New secession group, 19" (outlet the end of the year) and is a member of the Berlin "November group". He also joined the KPD (until 1924). In the following year, he was awarded the Saxon state. The related study visit to Rome he declines, instead he takes an excursion to the Rhineland and the Ruhr area.

In this early phase, Felix müller developed his pictorial compositions to expressionism, he understands the social-critical meaning, among other things, as a revolutionary Protest against the war-related destruction of the world. Inspiration he finds in particular in the works of the bridge artists, but also the Cubists and futurists. This is our watercolor painting is an impressive example length: In the foreground is a tight gerücktes Couple who wants to find himself in a kiss together. Behind them, the window gives a clear view of trees, roofs, a Church tower and fields. The strong Detail underlines the intimacy and the intimacy of the moment. For this purpose, the drastic, almost gloomy colouring, and the dynamic of the Duktus stand in contrast. Thus, the illustrated Idyll of a quiet Sunday evening is deceptive - it is a threat to the happiness in love of the two by the ravages of time, or it defies them? Insistently, the artist gives here insight into his emotional world. He has himself shown with his wife, Londa of mountain. He does this throughout his creative life. He was also in Self-portraits, often with his sons, with the father or brother. In this way, he assures his family's happiness without material Concerns in the course of time
