Painted vellum binding by Cedric Chivers of Bath, full light green vellum, the front cover depicting King Arthur with Excalibur, the lower cover with Queen Guinevere in a bower of roses, gilt rules, flowers gilt, top edge gilt.

Tinted calf binding by Riviere & Son, full pictorial calf, incised and tinted in colors; the front cover depicting a blue bird amidst branches and berries, the spine a wasp, and the lower cover a mouse in grass, spine gilt-lettered, all edges gilt (spine faded to brown, wear to joints). Provenance: Doris Louise Benz (morocco bookplate).
