Christus segnet die Kinder
Vielfigurige szenische Darstellung nach den biblischen Erzählungen der drei Evangelisten Matthäus, Markus und Lukas. Im Mittelpunkt der Komposition steht der die Kinder segnende, sitzende Christus, zu dem von allen Seiten die Kinder von ihren Müttern gebracht werden. Auf der rechten Seite vier der über die Segnung disputierenden Apostel, die wegen ihres Widerstandes von Jesus getadelt werden. Stilistisch und kompositorisch spiegelt das in fein lasierender Malweise ausgeführte, künstlerisch qualitätvolle Tafelbild augenfällig Einflüsse Peter Paul Rubens wider; die Datierung wird nicht zuletzt durch die Hausmarke des Tafelmachers Michiel Vrient unterstützt, der auch für Rubens tätig war. Öl/Eichenholztafel. Verso Brandstempel der Antwerpener Tafelmachergilde (2 Hände über einer Burg) und Hausmarke (ligiertes Monogr.) "MV" von Michiel Vrient (tätig 1615-1637). 56,5 cm x 104,5 cm. Rahmen.
