Leutnant Césari (1885 - 1957) startete mit einem anderen Flieger am 14.8.1914 um 17.30 Uhr mit dem Auftrag, den Hangar der Luftschiffe auf dem Militärflugplatz Metz-Frescaty auszukundschaften und wenn möglich zu zerstören. Kurz vor dem Ziel stoppte der Motor plötzlich. Der Leutnant wollte seinen Auftrag trotzdem erfüllen, ging in den Gleitflug und warf seine Bombe kaltblütig ab. Der Motor lief wie durch ein Wunder wieder an und er kehrte sicher zu seiner Basis zurück.

Cork body covered in an outer layer of brown oilcloth, round front visor. Neck and ear protectors. The interior with impregnated green cloth and a brown leather sweatband embossed with the manufacturer's mark in gold "Casque Protecteur Roold Breveté S.G.D.G." and the owner's old, handwritten name "Césari". Also includes the goggles with metal-rimmed lenses and black rubber pads. Slightly damaged in places, signs of age and wear. Overall, the used helmet in fine condition, belonging to the French flying ace.
Lieutenant Césari (1885 - 1957) took off with another plane at 5.30 p.m. on 14 August 1914 on a reconnaissance mission to scout out the airship hangar on Metz-Frescaty military airfield and destroy it if possible. Shortly before reaching the target, his engine suddenly cut out. The lieutenant was determined to complete his mission nonetheless so switched to gliding mode and coolly dropped his bomb. Miraculously, his engine started back up and he returned safely to his base.

The information about the auction winners is confidential. The auction winner will receive a direct notification from the auction house responsible with instructions for further action: an invoice for payment and the manner in which the goods will be received.
Each of the auction houses has its own payment policy for the won lots. All auction houses accept bank transfers, most of them accept credit card payments. Shipment of the won lot depends on its size. Small items can be delivered by post. Larger lots are sent by courier. Employees of the auction houses will offer you a wide range to choose from.
