Fonts baptismaux ou bénitier en pierre sculptée, reposant sur une colonne à décor de

feuilles d’eau et un chapiteau renversé formant socle. La cuve du bénitier est sculptée

en bas relief d’un motif de chrisme cerclé, encadré de deux colombes, motif qui est

répété sur les deux versants de la cuve.

Probablement époque Romane.

Probablement sud-ouest de la France.

H : 105 cm, L : 63 cm.

Le chrisme ou monogramme constantinien disparaît généralement de la statuaire religieuse

à partir du Xème siècle à l’exception de la région des Pyrénées centrales où

l’emploi des motifs paléo-chrétiens ont continués d’être représentés avec le chrisme

au moins jusqu’au XIIIème siècle ce qui nous permets de localiser notre pièce avec un

certain degré de certitude.

The results of the auction are published within a few days after the end of the auction. In the top menu of the site, find the tab "Auctions". After opening it, select the desired auction from the list, enter and view the current status of the interested lot.
The information about the auction winners is confidential. The auction winner will receive a direct notification from the auction house responsible with instructions for further action: an invoice for payment and the manner in which the goods will be received.
