Erziehung des Achilles durch den Kentauren Chiron
Bronze, dunkel patiniert. Vollplastische, fein gearbeitete, detailreiche, mythologische Gruppe in einem französischen Guss des 19. Jhs.; Rude gehört zu den bedeutendsten französischen Bildhauern in der 1. Hälfte des 19. Jhs.; zur vorliegenden Bronze wurde er durch das monumentale, 1783 vollendete Gemälde von Jean-Baptiste Régnault (1754 - 1829) inspiriert, das sich heute im Louvre befindet. 1809 ging Rude nach Paris und studierte an der École des Beaux-Arts bei Pierre Cartellier; 1812 erhielt er den Prix de Rome, konnte diesen jedoch aufgrund der historischen Umstände nicht in Anspruch nehmen. 1815 zog er zu seiner Schwiegerfamilie nach Brüssel, wo er mit dem Architekten Charles van der Straeten zusammenarbeitete und u.a. Aufträge König Wilhelm I. für Paläste, Schlösser, Denkmäler und Bauten ausführte. 1827 kehrte Rude nach Paris zurück, 1833 wurde er in die Ehrenlegion aufgenommen und schuf ein Hochrelief für den Arc de Triomphe de l’Étoile - "La Marseillaise", das seinen Ruhm festigte. 1855 erhielt Rude auf der Weltausstellung in Paris eine Ehrenmedaille. The results of the auction are published within a few days after the end of the auction. In the top menu of the site, find the tab "Auctions". Click on it and you will be on the auction catalog page, where you can easily find the category "Results". After opening it, select the desired auction from the list, enter and view the current status of the interested lot.
The information about the auction winners is confidential. The auction winner will receive a direct notification from the auction house responsible with instructions for further action: an invoice for payment and the manner in which the goods will be received.
Each of the auction houses has its own payment policy for the won lots. All auction houses accept bank transfers, most of them accept credit card payments. Shipment of the won lot depends on its size. Small items can be delivered by post. Larger lots are sent by courier. Employees of the auction houses will offer you a wide range to choose from.
