Franz Bunke 14.9.37. - Literatur: Das Gemälde ist unter der Nr. 344 in das in Vorbereitung befindliche Werkverzeichnis beim Museum Schwaan aufgenommen. - Deutscher Landschaftsmaler und Begründer der Künstlerkolonie Schwaan. B. studierte an der Berliner Akademie sowie an der Kunstschule in Weimar bei Th. Hagen. Seit 1892 hielt er sich regelmäßig in Schwaan in der von ihm maßgeblich geprägten Künstlerkolonie auf. Zwischen 1903 bis 1914 stellte er im Münchener Glaspalast aus, 1914 auch in Wien. Nachdem er bereits seit 1886 in Weimar Landschaftsmalerei unterrichtet hatte, verlieh ihm Großherzog Wilhelm Ernst von Sachsen-Weimar 1910 den Professorentitel.
