Sitzende Marmortaube mit flacher Unterseite. Beide Flügel heben sich vom Körper leicht ab und geben der Figur dadurch mehr Plastizität und Volumen. Die Struktur des Gefieders graviert und leicht im Relief herausgearbeitet. Benutzungsspuren. Bestoßung oberhalb des rechten Auges und am Schwanzende. Länge 9 cm. Eindrucksvolle frühchristliche Kleinplastik.

Provenienz: Aus dem Nachlass eines Sammlers aus Südwestdeutschland.

An early Christian marble dove, 5th - 8th century
Sitting marble dove with flat underside. Both wings stand out slightly from the body, giving the figure more plasticity and volume. The structure of the plumage engraved and slightly worked out in relief. Traces of use. Bumped above the right eye and at the end of the tail. Length 9 cm. Impressive small early Christian sculpture.

Provenance: From the estate of a collector from Southwest Germany.
