In French. Two pages, 173 x 245mm, two further signatories, handwritten corrections and marginal annotations. Provenance: Sotheby's, 27 November 1980, lot 232.

Regarding the performances of Boris Godounov and Khovanshchina at the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées. The contract sets out the agreement in place between Gabriel Astruc, Director General of the Champs-Elysées Theatre and Serge Diaghilev, Director of the Russian Ballet in St Petersburg. Clauses concern the loan and transportation of sets and costumes, as well as the ‘good keeping and conservation’ of these items and provisions in place in the event of damage or disputes. The contract concludes ‘Copied in duplicate and in good faith in Paris, 21st June 1913’.

Astruc was founder and director of the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées, he met Diaghilev in the spring of 1906 and a year later organised the Concerts Historiques Russes with Diaghilev at the Opera.
