Précieux exemplaire, avec corrections autographes de Genet, dans une fascinante reliure allusive de Georges Leroux.
Premier ouvrage de Genet, Le Condamné à mort a été écrit en prison, alors que le poète était incarcéré à Fresnes. Le texte évoque la figure du jeune assassin Maurice Pilorge, guillotiné le 4 février 1939. Martyr mais surtout objet de fantasmes pour Genet, le condamné à mort éponyme donne corps aux thématiques principales de l'ouvrage - l'amitié (probablement fantasmée d'ailleurs, entre Genet et Pilorge), l'amour entre prisonniers, l'homosexualité. Le livre est imprimé dans la clandestinité.
In-8 (212 x 135 mm). Édition originale, au tirage limité à 100 exemplaires. Corrections autographes de Genet, sur presque chacune des pages. L’exemplaire est enrichi, sur un feuillet blanc, d’une aquarelle originale monogrammée d’Émile Picq, représentant une scène érotique.
Reliure signée de Georges Leroux, datée 1961 : box ivoire, plats évidés d’une forme carrée, tapissée sur le plat supérieur d’une photographie d’homme, et fermée de pièces de box ébène mosaïqué en relief, figurant une fenêtre et des barreaux de prison, lettre à l’oeser noir sur le dos, tête dorée, couverture et dos conservés, chemise et étui assortis.
[Jointe à l’exemplaire] : une lettre autographe signée de Genet à [l’éditeur] Paul [Morihien] : « sois gentil de me rendre un peu ce service : prêter à Violette [Leduc] N.D. des Fl. et Le Condamné à Mort. C’est la moindre des choses que tu me dois après le cadeau que je te fais de pouvoir éditer la dite Violette ». 1 p. in-8, pliure médiane et trous d’épingle marginaux.

The results of the auction are published within a few days after the end of the auction. In the top menu of the site, find the tab "Auctions". Click on it and you will be on the auction catalog page, where you can easily find the category "Results". After opening it, select the desired auction from the list, enter and view the current status of the interested lot.
The information about the auction winners is confidential. The auction winner will receive a direct notification from the auction house responsible with instructions for further action: an invoice for payment and the manner in which the goods will be received.
Each of the auction houses has its own payment policy for the won lots. All auction houses accept bank transfers, most of them accept credit card payments. In the near future you will find detailed information for each case in the section "Auction information" on the page of the auction catalog and the lot.
Shipment of the won lot depends on its size. Small items can be delivered by post. Larger lots are sent by courier. Employees of the auction houses will offer you a wide range to choose from.
