1956. Bronze, goldbraun patiniert. 39,5 x 21 x 21 cm. Auf der Rücks. sign. und dat. ENGST 56, Gießerstempel GUSS BARTH ELMENHORST. Die ausdrucksstarke Plastik in blockhafter, geschlossener Gestaltung zählt zu den frühesten Arbeiten des Künstlers. Die Geliebte sitzt nach links gewandt auf den Knien ihres Liebsten, der auf einer kleinen Bank Platz genommen hat. Seine Rechte ruht auf ihrem Oberschenkel. Mit seiner Linken umfasst er den Rücken der unbekleideten Frau, die ihren Arm um seinen Hals legt und sich an ihn schmiegt. Die Köpfe des Paares sind einander zugewandt; ihr Gestus drückt innige Vertrautheit aus. - Literatur: WVZ: Tiedge 16 - Provenienz: Privatbesitz Hamburg, direkt beim Künstler erworben - Deutscher Bildhauer, studierte nach einem Theologiestudium Bildhauerei an der Akademie der Bildenden Künste in München bei Prof. A. Hiller und an der HFBK in Hamburg bei E. Scharff. Seit 1967 als freischaffender Künstler in Jersbek tätig, er erhielt zahlreiche staatliche Aufträge für öffentliche Bauten. Kleinplastische Arbeiten thematisieren häufig den Balanceakt, der als Metapher für den Menschen in der Gesellschaft gesehen werden kann - Gleichgewicht halten oder verlieren.
