(1889 Berlin - 1981 Burgbrohl/Eifel)
"Standing Duttknoterin" Original Title
Bronze, in nuanced, dark brown patina shades, 1979. Artist-Signet ("Phoenix"), numbered RINTELN 2/10 and foundry stamp "GUSS BARTH". CR. Hartog 1157. On a stretch teckigen plinth act of a young woman standing, with two hands, a bun in your hair knotend. The style and motifs typical of the late work of the modern sculptor. Gerhard Marcks, who was 1919-1925 as a master at the Bauhaus in Weimar and 1925-1933 at the progressive art school Burg Giebichenstein ("workshops of the city hall") had been in Halle/Saale, created since about 1930, a large number of female Nudes. These form a focal point in his Oeuvre. The "bun with the straps" is one of an extensive series of works from the 1960s/70s. The standing, lying or sitting acts, show girls and young women in their natural movements and postures; never his stylized figures hero act or pathetic, they reflect moods instead, human Reason, and, sometimes, a certain amount of conciseness. H. 98.5 cm.
Brown patinated bronze, 1979. Artists sign and foundry stamp, numbered 2/10.
