Fertigung der bekannten russischen Klingenschmiede "Slatoust". Leicht geschwungene, beidseitig zweifach gekehlte Klinge mit feinem Damast, die obere Hälfte der Klinge beidseitig geätzt mit floralem Zierdekor, auf der Vorderseite des Dekors mit zaristischem Doppelkopfadler. Auf der Klinge beidseitig die gravierte kyrillische Geschenkwidmung, auf der Vorderseite "Дорогому товарищу Сотнику Борисовскому" (= An unseren verehrten Herrn Sotnik Borisowski), auf der Rückseite "отъ Общества офицеровъ С.П.Б.Жандармского Дивизiона 29. III. 1904" (= Von der Gesellschaft der Offiziere der Gendarmerie-Division St. Petersburg 29.III.1904 ), auf dem Klingenrücken "ЗЛАТОУСТ ОРУЖ. ФАБРИКА" (= Slatoust Waffenfabrik). Der Griff aus Silber mit floralem Niello-Dekor, kleine Delle. Die schwarz lackierte Lederscheide mit Holzkern ebenfalls mit Silberbeschlägen, fein graviert, die Rückseite ebenfalls in Niello-Dekor. Altersspuren. Länge 101,5 cm. Dazu das passende Ledergehänge und Gürtel mit vergoldeter Silbermontur.
Leicht getragen, noch ungereinigt im unberührten Originalzustand.
Geschenk-Schaschkas in Luxusqualität sind nur ganz selten auf dem Markt zu finden.

A Russian gift shashka with a Damascus blade for a lieutenant in the Gendarmerie Division in St. Petersburg, dated 1904
Made by the famous Russian bladesmith "Slatoust". Slightly curved blade of fine Damascus steel with double fuller on both sides, the forte etched with a floral design, decorated on the obverse with a Russian double eagle. Both faces engraved with Cyrllic inscriptions, on the obverse Дорогому товарищу Сотнику Борисовскому" (= For our revered Mr. Sotnik Borisowski), on the reverse "отъ Общества офицеровъ С.П.Б.Жандармского Дивизiона 29. III. 1904" (= From the Society of Officers of the Gendarmery Division St. Petersburg 29.III.1904), "ЗЛАТОУСТ ОРУЖ. ФАБРИКА" (= Slatoust arms factory) on the back of the blade. Silver handle with floral niello decor, small dent. The black lacquered leather scabbard with wood core and silver mounts, finely engraved, the reverse also decorated in niello. Signs of age. Length 101.5 cm. With matching leather hanger and belt with gilt silver mounts. Slightly worn, still uncleaned and in untouched original condition. Gift shashkas of such high quality are rarely found on the market today.
