Rechteckiger Korpus aus Eichenholz in Rahmenbauweise. Deckel mit geschrägten Seiten. Schauseitig fein geschnitztes Bildfeld mit dreiviertelplastischer Darstellung des Urteils des Salomon. Zentral der biblische König unter einem Baldachin, rechts vor ihm ein Knecht, das Kind emporhaltend, daneben die flehende echte Mutter. Auf der linken Seite die falsche Mutter mit Begleitern. Auf dem Rand die Umschrift "De Koning Salemon sin erte Gerichte - sat ein even Ordel gebe". Seitlich zwei Hermenpilaster mit Wappenschilden. Originale farbige Fassung. Seitlich zwei bewegliche eiserne Tragegriffe. Originales eisernes Schloss mit Hohldornschlüssel. Verzinnte Scharnierbänder, seitliche Innenlade. Maße 53 x 84,5 x 54 cm.
The rectangular body made from oak in frame construction. The lid with bevelled edges. A delicately carved depiction of the Judgement of Solomon in three-quarter relief on the front. In the centre, the Biblical king sits under a canopy; a man-at-arms to his right holding the child aloft, next to the true mother, pleading for the baby's life to be spared. On the left, the false mother with her entourage. The inscription "De Koning Salemon sin erte Gerichte - sat ein even Ordel gebe" around the edge. Two herm pillars with escutcheons at the side. Original coloured paint. Two movable iron handles at the side. Original iron lock with a hollow shank key. Tinned hinge straps, an inner drawer on the side. Dimensions 53 x 84.5 x 54 cm.
