Fein gearbeitete Panzerung für den vorderen Sattel aus getriebenem Eisenblech. Schauseitig reich reliefierter und teilvergoldeter Dekor, dazwischen fein in Gold tauschierte Rankenornamente. An der Oberseite eine große Kartusche mir Band- und Rollwerkrahmung. Darin die Darstellung eines Engels mit zwei Posaunen, umgeben von Trophäen. An den Seiten je eine Kartusche mit weiblichen Figuren, davon eine mit Löwe, die andere mit Schlange dargestellt. An der oberen Seite umlaufender kräftiger Brechrand mit geätztem und vergoldetem Arabeskendekor. Auf alter, mit rotem Samt bezogener Platte montiert. Maße 44 x 57 cm.
Eliseus Libaerts, Goldschmied und Plattner, tätig in Antwerpen und Paris, in den Jahren 1557-69 nachweisbar. Er fertigte Prunkharnische für viele gekrönte Häupter Europas, darunter auch einen Harnisch für Reiter und Ross für Christian II. von Sachsen, der heute noch in der Sammlung in Dresden erhalten ist.

A hammered and gold damascened saddle fitting, attributed to Eliseus Libaerts, Antwerp, circa 1560/70
The armour for the front of the saddle finely worked in hammered sheet iron. The front with lavish, partially gilt relief decoration, interspersed with fine tendril ornaments inlaid in gold. A large cartouche featuring an angel with two trumpets, surrounded by trophies, with interlaced strapwork and scrollwork frames on the top. A cartouche with female figures on each side, one shown with a lion, the other with a serpent. A continuous, prominent flange with etched and gilt arabesques along the upper edge. Mounted on an old panel covered in red velvet. Dimensions 44 x 57 cm.
Eliseus Libaerts is documented as a goldsmith and armourer in Antwerp and Paris between 1557 and 1569. He produced ceremonial armour for numerous crowned heads of Europe, including a set of armour for a horseman and his steed for Christian II of Saxony, which still forms part of the collection in Dresden.

The information about the auction winners is confidential. The auction winner will receive a direct notification from the auction house responsible with instructions for further action: an invoice for payment and the manner in which the goods will be received.
Each of the auction houses has its own payment policy for the won lots. All auction houses accept bank transfers, most of them accept credit card payments.
