Livres en bouche, 142 ; Westbury, pp. 114-115 : “Each copy I have seen has been put together differently by the binder, but the sum total adds up to the same” ; Vicaire, 402-403 : “Les trois traités de Giegher sont fort rares ; on les trouve assez difficilement complets” ; Krohn, Deborah L. “Carving and Folding by the Book in Early Modern Europe.” Journal of Early Modern History, vol. 24, n° 1, Janvier 2020, pp. 17-40.
In-4 oblong (160 x 220 mm).
A highly attractive copy of this illustrated gathering of three treatises on table service and food carving by Giegher, including the very first work on the art of folding table linen. These plates have been copied in many subsequent cookbooks. The present copy is in its original condition : complete, with full margins, in its original carta rustica.
