Fire-Gilded Bronze
Tibet
18. Century.
HEIGHT 12 CM
Maitreya is the "Benevolent" and is regarded as the Buddha of the Future. In this presentation he sits in entangled posture of the feet on a Lotus pedestal. His hands form the gesture of the Dharmacakra, "Andrehens of the wheel of the doctrine". At the same time, press and hold the Stalks of Lotus flowers (copper with green Patina), which symbolizes the wheel of teaching, and in the other the pot with the elixir of life. Maitreya wears a five-pointed crown and jewelry. The non-gold-plated back provides very good age patina.

Expertise: Wolfmar Zacken
This sculpture was exhibited in 2006 at the "Museum of Korean Buddhist Art" and is illustrated in the catalogue of the exhibition "Buddhist Art of Tibet: For Eternal Life" on page 25
