A fresh copy of the first edition of this treatise on plants and shells of the Adriatic Sea by the Ravenna-based naturalist Giuseppe Ginanni complete with plates.

2 parts in one volume, folio (364 x 255mm). Title of the first volume printed in red and black, both with engraved allegorical vignettes, engraved initials and headpieces, with errata, 92 numbered plates: LV in the first part and XXXI, III, III in the second. In variant B of SBN (without a portrait mentioned in variant A); together with "la Vita del Conte Ginanni", which is sometimes missing (occasional stains and a few small tears). Contemporary vellum, label on spine, blue edges (some staining, bowed). Provenance: early manuscript ex-dono on title - Roberto Lawley (private stamp).
