A fine set of hand-coloured gore sheets for a pair of Cassini 30cm globes, these examples extracted from the Nuovo Atlante Geografico Universale published 1790-1801. Cassini's gores that were intended for mounting on globes were issued separately with a different border and without volume numbers. Dekker GLB0145 (mounted terrestrial globe).
Folio (575 x 350mm). 8 double-page engraved gore sheets, 2 double-page engraved sheets with horizon bars and calottes, these 10 sheets each 450 x 600mm, together with 4 engraved plates on 2 larger sheets measuring 570 x 660mm comprising the accompanying meridian rings, making up two globes 30cm in diameter, each globe comprising 12 gores, signed and dated by Cassini in the cartouches (some light spotting to the Pacific gores but mainly confined to margins, some other sheets faintly and evenly browned). Bound in modern calf.
