Signed lower left. Adhesive label inscribed "Groszherzogl. Familie Toscaba" on the ivory plate and an adhesive label with handwritten number F 200 verso. Watercolour and opaque paints on ivory. 13.1 x 16.5 cm. Small paint loss all around the edges. Brass frame, inserted in a dark green velvet-covered frame by Gebr. Rodeck, Vienna (18 x 21.5 cm). Names of the sitters on the brass plaque verso.
Depicted are: Grand Duke Ferdinand III, as Archduke Joseph Johann Baptist of Austria-Tuscany (1769 Florence - 1824 ibid.) with Grand Duchess Luisa Maria, Princess of Bourbon-Sicily (1773 Naples - 1802 Vienna), married since 1790. Their four children: Princess Carolina Ferdinanda (1793 - 1802) Prince Franz Leopold (1794 - 1800) Prince Leopold (1797 - 1870) Princess Maria Luisa (1798 - 1857) Princess Maria Theresia (1801 - 1855) was not yet born. A son was stillborn in 1802, the Grand Duchess died at his birth.
