Leicht gekrümmte Rückenklinge aus feinem Wootz-Damast mit zweischneidiger Spitze und beidseitiger schmaler Kehlung. Beidseitig gravierte florale Kartusche. Gegratete eiserne Parierstange mit reliefierter Auflage aus Goldblech. Die Zwinge mit Golddraht umwickelt, goldblechummantelte Griffschalen, Griffrücken in Goldfiligran gearbeitet. Gravierte goldene Knaufkappe mit anhängender goldener Griffkette. Holzscheide mit Golddraht vernähtem Lederbezug. Langes Ortblech aus graviertem Silber mit fein reliefierten Goldblechauflagen. Einseitig 24 gefasste Almandine, auf der Gegenseite identischer Besatz aus grünem Jaspis. Tragespangen und Ortblech mit reliefiertem Goldblechüberzug, die Ränder mit Silberdraht umwunden. Bewegliche silberne Trageringe. Länge 99 cm.
A gold-mounted saif with wootz-blade and mounted stones, Arabic peninsula, 19th century
Slightly curved single-edged blade of fine Wootz steel with double-edged point and narrow fuller on both sides. Floral cartouche engraved on both sides. Ridged iron quillons with fluted terminals applied with sheet gold. The collar wrapped with gold wire, grip panels covered with sheet gold, grip strap crafted in gold filigree. Pommel cap of engraved sheet gold with attached gold knuckle chain. Wooden scabbard with leather cover sewn with gold wire. Long chape of engraved silver with finely chased sheet gold applications. 24 set almandites on one side, on the other side an identical arrangement of green jasper gemstones. Middle and upper locket and chape covered with chased sheet gold, the edges wrapped with silver wire. Movable silver suspension rings. Length 99 cm.
