Bronze scale comprising a balance beam, two (of three) suspension hook, a hanger, and a bulb-shaped barrel weight. The square in cross-section a balance beam which consists of two unequal, to each other by 45° arms twisted. At the shorter Load arm (length 14 cm) were originally located on three sides of each suspension hook, of which only one at the place. A second is loose, the third is lost. Each hook has served as a lever point, and was on the longer arm portion of a corresponding scale. On the Load arm of the suspension device, consisting of two chains was attached with hooks, at which the weighing object has been attached. On three of the four beams on the surfaces of the Waagarms (length 29 cm), see scale on which the consecutive values to the Greek number sign "P" = 100 find. The scale was calibrated up to 100 Byzantine pound, equivalent to 32.7 kg. Excellent Patina. Length of the balance beam total of 43 cm. The length of the suspension device of 47.5 cm. Provenance: From a in the South of Germany retained private collection. Purchased in the 1970s to the 1980s, the art market and German private collections. Condition: II -
