Große mythologische Meissen Figurengruppe "Apoll und Daphne"
2-tlg.; Auf kräftig reliefiertem Rocaillesockel allansichtig konzipierte Gruppe mit Darstellung der Verfolgung Daphnes durch Apoll und ihrer Verwandlung in einen Lorbeerbaum. In gestreckter Laufhaltung stehender Gott Apoll in purpurfarbenem, von schwarzen und goldenen Blüten gemustertem Tuch mit dunklem, wehendem Haar. Seine Arme sind zum Ergreifen nach vorn gerichtet. Daphne als Gegenstück mit gedrehter Körperhaltung, sich mit erschrockenem Blick umwendend und die Arme emporstreckend. Ihr unbekleideter Körper zeigt die beginnende Metamorphose. Polychrome Malerei mit Goldkonturierung. Entw. Johann Friedrich Eberlein. Modell-Nr. 2900. Rest.; Schwertermarke. H. 38,5 cm - 42,5 cm.
Das Figurenmodell wurde ursprünglich zusammen mit weiteren "8 Grouppen" als figürlicher Tafelschmuck für das sog. "Vestunen-Service" entworfen, das Friedrich der Große im Jahre 1763 in Meissen in Auftrag gab.
