Lot 27KPM. Large ceremonial bowl with hunting motifs
Around 1870/80.

Porcelain, coloured and decorated with gold. Bronze mount. On octagonal base, slender, ascending round base with a gold engraved leaf frieze. The
round shell smooth, ascending. Central round medallion with pine cones, fir branches and
surrounded by fresh oak foliage in the finest painting. In circumferentially wide decorative band
with cupids between delicate flowering vines. Part of hunting with the bow and arrow, or
Kebabs on the part of dogs accompanied by hunting. Height 22.5 cm, diameter (bowl) 34cm.
Sceptre mark, Imperial Orb in Red, gilders mark S. condition A/B.

Baer, Winfried; Baer, Ilse: ...of the highest order..., the king gifts from the Royal porcelain manufactory Berlin KPM, Berlin, 1983, p. 14f.

In the Royal porcelain manufactory, particularly large vases with Veduta painting in the order of Friedrich Wilhelm III. and then of Frederick William IV were made from 1825 as Royal gifts. Since 1829 great essay were also shells, such as the present one, in these orders:
"In this rich offer also shells up to a diameter of 30 inches (78,6 cm) play an important role, among other things, the models 'extra-large canelierte shell', 'Confect shell on a Dolphin', 'shell to Rotate on a gold-plated Laubfuß', 'great Prince of the Royal Cup on a high round foot' (...)". (Baer, 1983, p. 14f.)
