Über profiliertem Rundfuß amphorenförmiger Korpus mit gerundeter Schulter, in eingezogenen, durch reliefierten Perlfries gegliederten langen Hals und kelchförmige, weit ausschwingende Mündung übergehend. An der Schulter ansetzende, blattförmig geschweifte Henkel. Kobaltblauer Fond. Auf der Wandung umlaufender Figurenfries mit verschiedenen, mythologischen Szenen, auszugsweise nach Vorlage von Stichen von Jean Francois Janinet auf Grundlage von Reliefdarstellungen und Zeichnungen von Jean Guillaume Moitte, u.a. der Abschied einer spartanischen Mutter von ihrem Sohn, komponiert auf einer Ornamentkonsole aus Maskaronmedaillons mit stilisierten Akanthusranken sowie Tuchgehänge in feiner, weißer Emailmalerei nach dem Vorbild der Limosiner Maleremailarbeiten. Modell-Nr. F 133. Meissen. 2. Hälfte 19. Jh.; Schwertermarke. H. 43,5 cm.
Die weiße, in mehreren dünnen Schichten aufgetragene und dadurch reliefartig erscheinende Emailmalerei hebt sich kontrastreich vom kobaltblauen Fond ab. Diese sich an Vorbildern der berühmten Maleremail-Arbeiten aus Limoges orientierende Malereitechnik wurde im 19. Jh. zunächst von Manufakturen wie Sèvres, Worcester und Minton ausgeführt und erstmals 1865 - angeregt durch den Modelleur Ernst August Leuteritz - auf Meissener Porzellanvasen angewandt. Im Jahre 1867 präsentierte Meissen auf der Pariser Weltausstellung eine im Limogesstil gefertigte Kratervase mit dem "Triumphzug Alexander des Großen". Zu den beliebten Themen zählten klassische, figurenreiche Darstellungen aus dem Bereich der antiken Mythologie, zumeist nach Kupferstichvorlagen von Relief- bzw. Bildhauerarbeiten, neben J. G. Moitte u. a. auch von dem berühmten dänischen Bildhauer des Klassizismus, Bertel Thorvaldsen.
