Porcelain, white. The young bear on a Pedestal sitting, and slightly to the right at the bottom looking. To the
Paws-free is the fine worked out fur the claws of the bear. Height 63.5 cm.
Pfeiffer brand with 2 SS, white characters, A1175, Bossierernr. 89. Condition B.
Provenance:
From the possession of the family Esser, see attached the original photo with a view of the sculpture exhibition Essers. Another copy is in the Vineta Museum in Barth.

As a student of August Gauls, Max Esser went on to become one of the leading Animal sculptors in the time of Pfeiffer's. He began his career, first at the black Burger workshops before, he was beginning in 1919 as a freelance artist for the next few years at the manufactory in Meissen. In addition, he led the Studio from 1923, a so-called Master.
Esser created for the manufacture of over 100 designs. To be able to his animal sculptures as accurately as possible the present studies led him regularly in the Berlin Zoo
