Schauseitig, über Profilband das große und fein gravierte Wappen Prince William Augustus,
Duke of Cumberland mit dem Hosenbandorden und der Devise des Prince of Wales 'ICH DIEN'.
Auf dem Deckel das Badge des Price of Wales. Auf der Rückseite eine Widmung des Duke of
Cumberland an George Reid of Ratho für seine Verdienste im Jahre 1745: "Presented By His
Grace the Duke of Cumberland to George Reid of Ratho, For his Services in the Year 1745". Ca. 1470g. Höhe 27,5cm, Breite 30cm.

William Augustus, Duke of Cumberland, war der dritte Sohn George II. von England und begann bereits in jungen Jahren seine militärische Karriere. Nach mehreren Feldzügen während des Österreichischen Erbfolgekriegs wurde er 1745 ausgesandt den Jakobitenaufstand unter Charles Edward Stuart niederzuwerfen. In der Schlacht von Culloden, am 16. April 1746, schlug er die Truppen des Bonnie Prince Charles vernichtend und erbarmungslos.
Der auf der Widmungsgravur genannte George Reid of Ratho hatte die Protestanten und damit den Duke of Cumberland vermutlich mit finanziellen Mitteln unterstützt. Auch wenn er als historische Persönlichkeit nicht sicher zu greifen ist, war seine Familie für ihren Juwelenhandel und ihre Bankgeschäfte bekannt. Sie waren Teil der sogenannten 'Solemn League and Covenant', welche die hannoverschen Protestanten politisch und finanziell unterstützten

The results of the auction are published within a few days after the end of the auction. In the top menu of the site, find the tab "Auctions". Click on it and you will be on the auction catalog page, where you can easily find the category "Results". After opening it, select the desired auction from the list, enter and view the current status of the interested lot.
The information about the auction winners is confidential. The auction winner will receive a direct notification from the auction house responsible with instructions for further action: an invoice for payment and the manner in which the goods will be received.
Each of the auction houses has its own payment policy for the won lots. All auction houses accept bank transfers, most of them accept credit card payments. In the near future you will find detailed information for each case in the section "Auction information" on the page of the auction catalog and the lot.
Shipment of the won lot depends on its size. Small items can be delivered by post. Larger lots are sent by courier. Employees of the auction houses will offer you a wide range to choose from.
