Leicht geschwungene, zweischneidige Klinge aus schön gemasertem Wootz-Damast. Am Ansatz beidseitig kräftige Goldtauschierung mit kufischen Inschriften. Hohl geschmiedeter Griff ebenfalls aus Wootz-Damast. Die Holzscheide mit violettem Samtbezug teils berieben. Silbertauschierte Eisenbeschläge mit floralem Dekor im Rahmen aus geometrischen Ornamenten. Ortblech mit tropfenförmigem Knauf aus Messing. Länge 73 cm.
A large Ottoman khanjar, 1st half of the 19th century
Slightly curved, double-edged blade of beautifully grained wootz Damascus steel. The base lavishly decorated with gold inlays and Kufic inscriptions. Hollow-forged grip also of wootz Damascus steel. The wooden scabbard with purple velvet cover partly rubbed. Silver-inlaid iron fittings with flower décor framed by geometric ornaments. Chape with drop-shaped brass pommel. Length 73 cm.
