Japan. 19. Century

Four-piece with remote cord guide. Gold lacquer, and partly with hira and takamaki-e with gyôbu, nashiji and lacquer red. Eyes inlaid with mica. The figure of the muscular temple guard with a patterned loin cloth and a scarf
to the shoulders. Standing behind a fence, and Left a kongô up, holding,
reflecting its designation as the 'Vajra-Schwinger' (Misshaku Kongô). On the
Back of a temple pillar, and five sparrows. Ojime made of agate. Height 9.7 cm. Signiatur: the Bottom in gold lacquer: Musashi no Kuni Jûnin Zeshin saku. Condition A/B. crack and hard to open, possibly repainted on the inside.
