A unique collection from the Ertegun’s private library, tracing the journeys of their two most cherished paintings.
Central to Mica and Ahmet Ertegun’s lives as collectors were René Magritte and David Hockney, epitomised by the cornerstones of their collection: Magritte’s L’empire des lumières and Hockney’s Still Life on a Glass Table. This collection of Magritte and Hockney publications served as a seminal part of their private library, consisting of works presented to them for lending their paintings to exhibitions and catalogues related to their most prized artists, and specifically the global histories of these two monumental works.
