Hans Thoma: Oberlehen 1839 - 1924 Karlsruhe. Important German painter and graphic artist. Professor in Karlsruhe. Painter of landscapes, portraits, mythological-religious themes (of Böcklin influenced). Subject: Two of a burning fire bowl-fitting Grip with raised wings. Etching, with a personal dedication by the artist "To Prof. Adrian Rappoldi best wishes for the year 1918". A. Rappoldi (Berlin, 1876 - 1948, Bamberg) was a Violinist and concert master in Dresden. Sheet size approximately 11.5 x 16 cm, above the middle in the plate, signed "Hans Thoma" (ligated), under glass framed. Lit.: Hans Thoma, stations of an artist's life, ed. v.
