Granit, farbig bemalt. 35 x 22,5 x 8 cm, Pflasterstein-Sockel: H. 11 cm. Auf der Oberseite farbig bemalt mit liegendem Baby. - Der Überlieferung nach war die verstorbene Ehefrau des Einlieferers die Enkelin der Eigentümer einer Druckerei und Klischeeanstalt in Kopenhagen, die eng mit Heerup befreundet waren. Der Stein war wohl ein Geschenk 'unter Freunden' und wurde vom Künstler selbst farblich aufgefrischt, als diese aus der großen Wohnung in Kopenhagen auszogen. - Provenienz: Privatbesitz Süddeutschland. - Dänischer Bildhauer, Maler und Komponist, seit 1949 Mitglied der Künstlergruppe 'Cobra', erhielt seine Ausbildung an der Kgl. Dänischen Kunstakademie, debütierte in den 1930er Jahren mit Recycling-Kunst, Assemblagen aus Schrott und Abfällen aller Art sowie Skulpturen aus Granit, allgemeine Bekanntheit erlangte er jedoch vor allem durch seine farbintensiven und ausdrucksstarken Lithografien mit Themen aus der Welt der dänischen Mythen und Volkssagen.
