Ferdinando di Savoia nahm 1912 am italienisch-türkischen Krieg teil und kämpfte im Ersten Weltkrieg als Kapitän auf dem Zerstörer Ippolito Nievo. Für die Besetzung der Echinadi-Inseln wurde er mit dem Militärorden von Savoyen und zwei Medaillen für militärische Tapferkeit ausgezeichnet. Nach dem Tod seines Vaters Tommaso am 15.4.1931 wurde er Herzog von Genua. Ferdinando avancierte 1927 zum Konteradmiral und wurde 1934 als Admiral Kommandant der nördlichen Adria.
Beautifully preserved bicorne hat of mohair felt, surrounding gold rim, black feather trim, gold bullion clasp, gold button decorated in relief with crowned anchor symbol, pleated silk cockade in the national colours, white silk lining with gold stamp "Coruzzolo" and three crowns, light-coloured leather sweatband. In a sheet-iron box by the same manufacturer. Comes with a double-breasted tunic of midnight-blue wool cloth (minor isolated flaws, somewhat stained) with gold-braided sleeves in the rank of a rear admiral, gold buttons with anchor symbol, gold embroidered shoulder boards, separate gold aiguillette with two gold tips, black silk lining, tailor’s label "Vincenzo Navach Venezia". Furthermore, a pair of trousers of midnight-blue cloth with gold lateral stripes (stitching partly loosened) and black buttons by "Galletti Venezia", in the white lining tailor’s label "A. Galletti Venezia" with wearer’s name "Ferdinando di Savoia Duca di Gennova". Slightly damaged in places, traces of age. Beautifully preserved, unique uniform ensemble of highest rank. In a large sheet-iron casket (rusty), dimensions 98 x 53 x 22 cm.
In 1912, Ferdinando di Savoia took part in the Italo-Turkish War. During World War I, he fought on the destroyer Ippolito Nievo as captain. For the occupation of the Echinades Isles he was awarded the Military Order of Savoy and two medals for military bravery. After the death of his father on 15 April 1931, he became Duke of Genoa. Ferdinand was promoted to rear admiral in 1927 and in 1934 became admiral and commander of the northern Adriatic region.
