Lot 6737 | Hoplitenfigur eines Kriegers, Bronze, Umbrien, 5. Jahrhundert vor Christus
Estimate value
€ 1 800
Gesockelt. Höhe 27,5 cm (mit Sockel 29,5 cm).

An Umbrian hoplite votive figure, bronze, 5th century B.C.
Impressive bronze figure of an Umbrian warrior with a majestic, curved helmet bush. The hoplite with the right raised at an angle, the left arm stretched forward at the side. Originally he probably held a spear in his right hand and a shield in his left. Of the armour, the helmet is still clearly visible, on which, in addition to the mighty helmet bush, wing ornaments have been preserved; furthermore, the breastplate, which ends at hip level with a leather scale armour(?). Leg splints can only be vaguely recognised. Surface corroded on the legs, arms and back. With minimal additions in the area of the feet. Beautiful patina. Socketed. Height 27.5 cm (with base 29.5 cm).
