Huang Jun (1775-1850) - China, dated 1824 - Releasing Horses in Spring. Fan Mounted as Album Leaf, ink and colors on paper. Inscription and signature by the artist: „Releasing horses in spring. In the third month of the jiashen year (1824)…, Huang Jun from Yuanhe“. Two seals of the artist: “Huang Shijun yin”, “Lanyin”. - Old and important European private collection, assembled before 1930 and between 1950 and 1980Huang Jun was from Yuanhe, today Suzhou. He was an official and a painter of landscapes and birds and flowers. He first studied the style of Huang Ding (1660-1730), then followed the style of the Loudong school. This nice painting combines the literati style with fresh coloring and a genre scene: Two scholars, accompanied by two servant boys, are watching the release of horses in the outskirts of Suzhou during springtime
