Lot 13 | HUCKITTA, A PALLASITE FROM AUSTRALIA
Estimate value
£ 1 000 – 1 500
The end piece weathered to a chocolate patina. The ghostly shapes of the olivine crystals are visible, entombed in webs of iron turned into limonite.

Despite being a massive meteorite, very little has ever left Australia where it’s almost all housed in national museums. Huckitta is an ancient meteorite, mostly weathered to iron shale and limonite during its long residenct on Earth.

Christie's would like to thank Dr. Alan E. Rubin at the Department of Earth, Planetary, and Space Sciences, University of California, Los Angeles for his assistance in preparing this catalogue.
