A leaf from an Antiphonal, in Latin, manuscript on vellum [Germany, mid-14th century]
A typical example of German Hufnagel notation.
336 x 242mm, 14 lines written in dark brown ink in a formal Gothic bookhand, 14 lines of Hufnagel notation on a 4-line staff, C- and F-clefs indicated, rubrics in red, initials in pale blue or red (a little stained, a few original flaws in the vellum, else in good condition).
Provenance:

Text:
The leaf contains three settings for the Invitatory Psalm, 'Venite exultemus', beginning '[Populus] eius et oves pascue eius' and ending 'Venite exultemus domino iubilemus deo sa[lutari nostro]'. The rubric on the recto is for All Saints on 1 November.
