AN ICON SHOWING THE MOTHER OF GOD GALAKTOTROPHOUSA Veneto-Cretan, 17th century Tempera on wood panel. Executed on a gold ground. The Mother of God holds the Child in her left arm. She turns to the left and turns her head towards the Christ Child. Christ holds his mother's breast. The image of the Christ feeding in the milk from his mother's breast may well be the most evocative representation of his human nature. The comparison between the life-giving milk and the blood flowing from the wounds in Jesus's side, granting humanity life and salvation, creates the theological context that connects the Mother of God Galaktotrophousa with Christ's suffering. Minimally restored. 23 x 20 cm (without frame).

The information about the auction winners is confidential. The auction winner will receive a direct notification from the auction house responsible with instructions for further action: an invoice for payment and the manner in which the goods will be received.
Each of the auction houses has its own payment policy for the won lots. All auction houses accept bank transfers, most of them accept credit card payments.
