Lot 1634 | Illyrischer Helm, griechisch, 5. Jahrhundert vor Christus
Halbkugelig getriebene Helmglocke mit zwei erhabenen, über die Kalotte nach hinten laufenden parallelen Graten. Zwischen diesen Graten war ein Goldblechstreifen aufgebracht, der lose beiliegt. Der Wangenschutz reicht in typischer Weise bis zum Kinn hinab. Gesichtsausschnitt mit geraden Kanten, entlang derer sich eine Randborte mit markanten, rundköpfigen Nietknöpfen zieht, abgegrenzt zur restlichen Helmfläche durch eine Randleiste. Der untere, hintere Teil der Kalotte mit dem Nackenschutz ist nicht erhalten. Aus mehreren Einzelteilen ohne Fehlstellen fachmännisch zusammengesetzt. Beeindruckendes Exemplar mit schöner grüner Patina. Höhe 19 cm. Länge 28 cm. Provenienz: Aus einer süddeutschen Privatsammlung, erworben in den 1990er Jahren auf dem Kunstmarkt. Zustand: III +
