Bronze, braun patiniert. In einen Holzsockel montiert. Frauenbüste über ein geschlossenes Buch gebeugt. Mit der rechten Hand hält sie das Buch umfasst, ihr Kinn ist auf die linke Hand gestützt. Auf der rechten Seite signiert I. Conrat, 1902. H. 44 cm. L. 64 cm. Ilse Twardowsky-Conrat genoss ihre Ausbildung bei bekannten Künstlern in Brüssel. Ihr Vorbild war u.a. Auguste Rodin. Sie erfuhr große Anerkennung bei verschiedenen Ausstellungen der Wiener Secession in den Jahren 1902-1905 und nahm 1901 an der Großen Kunstausstellung in München teil. 1910 wurde sie zur Vizepräsidentin des neu gegründeten Vereins ''Bildende Künstlerinnen Österreichs'' berufen. Sie heiratet 1910 Ernst von Twardowsky und geht mit ihm nach München, wo sie ziemlich zurückgezogen lebt. Nach ihrem Umzug Ilse Twardowsky-Conrat genoss ihre Ausbildung bei bekannten Künstlern in Brüssel. Ihr Vorbild war u.a. Auguste Rodin. Da sie jüdischen Glaubens war, droht ihr 1942 die Deportation und sie begeht Selbstmord. Ilse Tardowsky-Conrat porträtierte Anfang des 20. Jahrhunderts. zahlreiche Persönlichkeiten des Wiener Großbürgertums. Das Münchener Stadtarchiv bewahrt den Nachlass der Künstlerin auf, darunter zahlreiche Fotos der Porträtierten. Hier findet man vergleichbare Portraits, die eventuell als Vorlage für diese Bronze gedient haben könnten, vergleichbar wäre auch die Ansicht von Lotte Bing.
