In the Style of Qiu Ying (ca. 1494 – ca. 1552) - China, ca. 16th/ 17th c. - Palace Lady Playing the Flute by a Lotos Pond. Round Fan, Mounted as Album Leaf, ink and colors on silkOne big collector’s seal on the right, hardly discernible. A lady is standing in a pavilion of the palace by a lotos pond and playing the flute. Two tall pines rise across the pond and a fantastic rock with potted plants rise between the lotus. - Old and important European private collection, assembled before 1930 and between 1950 and 1980The landscape elements are all executed in the decorative blue and green style which was characteristic for Qiu Ying, who was the most popular painter of his time and beyond. Slim and elegant figures of palace ladies were also his hallmark. Especially in the 17th century his style was imitated in innumerable paintings. This one is done especially fine and full of detail. Flöte spielende Palastdame am Lotus-Teich. Runder Fächer, als Albumblatt aufgezogen, Tusche und Farben auf Seide. Ein großes Sammlersiegel auf der rechten Seite, kaum wahrnehmbar. Eine Dame steht in einem Pavillon des Palastes an einem Lotosteich und spielt Flöte. Zwei hohe Kiefern ragen über den Teich und ein fantastischer Felsen mit Topfpflanzen erhebt sich zwischen den Lotusblumen.
