Authenticity of the work has been confirmed by J.-L. Goiran, the artist’s grandson.
Each part of the present lot is a posthumous lost wax cast executed at the Lauragaise Bronze Foundry (La Fonderie de Bronze Lauragaise) with authorisation of the artist’s family. Representing the artist’s wife, the 1917 diptych – a model for this bronze version, – is part of a series of oak bas-reliefs commissioned by the artist’s sponsors Jacques Doucet and Paul Poiret, famous French couturiers and collectors.
