Ariadne und Bacchus (Dionysos) mit einem jungen Faun am Strand von Naxos
Feinmalerisch ausgeführte, detailreich geschilderte Szene aus der antiken Mythologie mit der sitzenden Ariadne als Halbakt in sinnierender Pose und Bacchus als Jüngling. Nachdem Ariadne Theseus geholfen hatte, den Minotaurus zu besiegen, versprach dieser ihr die Ehe, wurde jedoch auf der Flucht von Kreta nach Athen auf der Insel Naxos allein zurückgelassen. Dort wurde Ariadne allerdings vom Weingott Bacchus, dessen Schiff im Hintergrund zu sehen ist, gefunden, der sich seinerseits in diese verliebte und die Gelegenheit ergriff, um Ariadne zu ehelichen. Brautgeschenk war ein Sternendiadem, das Bacchus auf diesem Kabinettbild über ihr Haupt hält. Da Ariadne eine Sterbliche war, musste Bacchus nach ihrem Tod allein zurückbleiben, woraufhin er, um die Erinnerung an sie wach zu halten, ihr Sternendiadem hoch in den Himmel warf, wo es zum Sternbild der Nördlichen Krone wurde. Das Liebes-Thema von Ariadne und Bacchus wurde in der Renaissance und im Barock zu einem beliebten Motiv vieler Künstler, besonders in Italien, u. a. bei Tizian und Tintoretto. Tempera/Pergament, auf Eichenholztafel kaschiert. R. u. undeutl. sign.; Verso spätere Bez.; 17,5 cm x 22 cm. Rahmen.

The information about the auction winners is confidential. The auction winner will receive a direct notification from the auction house responsible with instructions for further action: an invoice for payment and the manner in which the goods will be received.
