Paar Gemälde mit Maria Magdalena und Hieronymus als büßende Heilige
Gegenstücke. Ovalkompositionen. Der Hl. Hieronymus als Eremit in einer felsigen Einöde, der den Kardinalshut abgelegt und seinen Oberkörper demütig und bußfertig von der Kleidung befreit hat, mit der linken Hand einen menschlichen Totenschädel haltend, neben ihm eine aufgeschlagene Bibel. Seinen Kopf wendet Hieronymus nach rechts zum Himmel, wo die Posaune des Jüngsten Gerichts direkt in sein Ohr schallt. Fast spiegelbildlich wird Maria Magdalena in gleichartiger Landschaft dargestellt, mit gefalteten Händen in geneigter Pose und geschlossenen Augen an einem altarartigen Tisch betend, auf dem ein Astkreuz, ein Schädel, eine Geißel und ein Salbgefäß liegen. Die beiden Andachtsbilder dürften aufgrund ihres kleinen Formats der privaten Andacht gedient haben, ihre Ikonographie weist mit den Vanitassymbolen die Gläubigen auch darauf hin, schon im irdischen Leben selbst Buße zu tun. Öl/Papier. Ca. 19 cm x 17 cm. Aus dem vollen Holz geschnitzte und teilw. vergoldete, profilierte Louis-VI Rahmungen, bekrönt mit Schleife und Lorbeerfeston.

After opening it, select the desired auction from the list, enter and view the current status of the interested lot.
The information about the auction winners is confidential. The auction winner will receive a direct notification from the auction house responsible with instructions for further action: an invoice for payment and the manner in which the goods will be received.
Each of the auction houses has its own payment policy for the won lots. All auction houses accept bank transfers, most of them accept credit card payments. Shipment of the won lot depends on its size. Small items can be delivered by post. Larger lots are sent by courier. Employees of the auction houses will offer you a wide range to choose from.
